After serving Candler County for more than 30 years, Sheriff Homer Bell is resigning, WTOC confirmed and reported Wednesday evening.
Bell said various health reasons are behind his resignation, which is expected in the next few days.
The county will appoint an interim sheriff until there is a special election in 2016.
