The State of Georgia Department of Revenue sent a letter to Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton notifying her of deficiencies regarding the 2020 Tax Digest and of a $68,600 penalty that is to be paid with 60 days.
Commissioner Blake Elsberry said the County would be submitting an appeal.
Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton said the she wanted “folks to know that the current bills are not affected, and are still due by December 1st.”
