The Georgia Department of Human Services’ (DHS) Division of Family & Children Services has received approval to issue summer 2023 P-EBT benefits to K-12 students who were eligible for free or reduced-price meals at a National School Lunch Program school during the 2022-23 academic year.
Families with eligible students, including high school seniors who graduated in May 2023, will receive a lump-sum benefit issuance of $120 per student within the next few months. Exact timing will depend on when the student’s school submitted their data to DHS.
These summer P-EBT benefits will be issued on the same P-EBT card previously used or on the household’s current EBT card if the student is in a SNAP household. Newly eligible students who are not part of a SNAP household will receive a P-EBT card within four weeks of their benefit release date.

So starting another program for those who are eligible for EBT right at this time when DFACS staffing is under staffed already and cannot get the renewals for those who have been in the system for years and haven’t been able to get their food stamps but it was decided to start this program up now. Does that make sense I’m a senior and haven’t received my benefits in 2 months now the department has to get out P-EBT and the seniors are still waiting for their EBT benefits does this make any sense. You add more on the understaff workers and the people are still waiting for their monthly benefits which are overdue.

This isn’t a new program. It’s been ongoing off and on for a while now.

PEbt was given out during the pandemic to families that had kids at home it has nothing to do with the already existing EBT.

Girl buy, everyone needs their benefits the children and elderly alike. Maybe if we rally for them to open up training so more people can fill the positions and pay them more we wouldn’t have this problem. Problem is people like you probably are ok with the service workers such as dfcs workers getting paid pennies to do more work.
