Rome Middle School Teacher Feature: Hillary Daniel

The word ‘exceptional’ comes to mind when thinking about Rome Middle School.

The word ‘exceptional’ comes to mind when thinking about Rome Middle School.

From the students to the faculty, to the lunchroom staff and custodial workers, to the teachers who dedicate every day to training the young minds of tomorrow—these outstanding people help set a part a school that is unique and built to catapult students to success.

Hillary Daniel began her teaching career four years ago at Rome Middle School after coming “full circle,” as she also attended RMS as a student back during her classroom days.

“Ever since I decided I wanted to be a teacher; I knew that I wanted to end up back at Rome City Schools. What’s so funny is that the principal who actually hired me four years ago was my principal when I attended RMS as well,” chuckled Daniel. “I remember him always telling me while in middle school that he was going to hire me one day, and I was one of the last people he hired before he retired from administration.”

It’s very rare that students find Ms. Daniel without a smile on her face and a helpful hand to lend. She is heavily involved in leading the Diversity Program at Rome Middle School, which is something she cherishes as a teacher and a mentor.

“One of the biggest things about Rome Middle School that I love is that it is such a diverse school,” she smiled. “Being able to be around students and other people who may not come from the same walks of life as you is so valuable, and I am thankful our students are able to experience that at such a young age.”

“I also love the small town feel of RMS,” Daniel continued. “Everyone is a family and every day is a great day!”

Thank you, Ms. Daniel, for you love and dedication to all students at Rome Middle School! GO Wolves!
