The Rome Braves got off to a good start in their latest home stand with a 7-4 win over the Greenville Drive on Thursday night at State Mutual Stadium.
Rome’s seven runs came on 15 hits, and the scoring came steadily in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings.
Three of Greenville’s four runs came in the second inning off Touki Toussaint, who pitched a third of an inning, giving up no hits, but five walks. Toussaint took the mound after a solid inning of rehab work by Jim Johnson. The Drive’s fourth run came off Matt Custred, who ended up with the win on the night.
On the offensive end, every player with an at bat managed at least one hit, except Austin Riley, who had an 0-5 night. Alajandro Salazar went 3 for 3, and Leudys Baez had a 3 for 4 night.
