In a head-to-head battle for the second half South Atlantic League Southern Division championship, the Rome Braves and Augusta GreenJackets faced off Friday night in game one of a three-game series.
Kolby Allard got a rare five inning complete game win, in Rome’s 7-1 rain-shortened victory over Augusta, moving the Braves up to a 2-and-a-half-game lead for first over the GreenJackets. Allard gave up one run on five hits, striking out nine.
Jared James got a homer for his team in the second inning, his third of the year. James went 2-for-2 with two runs, and RBI and a walk.
Ray-Patrick Didder, and Justin Ellison both went 2-for-3 in the game, each with a pair of runs batted in. Also with an RBI was Anfernee Seymour, who went 1-for-1 with two runs and two walks.
