James’ homer leads Rome to 9-7 win over Columbia

Jared James hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the Rome Braves to a 9-7 win over the Columbia Fireflies on Sunday. Devan Watts got Dash Winningham to fly out with runners on first and second to end the game for his fifth save of the season. The home run by James scored Justin Ellison and Tyler Neslony to give the Braves a 9-6 lead.

In the top of the ninth, Columbia cut into the deficit on a sacrifice fly by J.C. Rodriguez that scored Milton Ramos.

Matt Custred (4-3) got the win in relief while Craig Missigman (1-3) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game.

For the Fireflies, Eudor Garcia doubled and singled twice, driving home three runs.
