Curtis named Mid-South Offensive Player of the Week

From Reinhardt Athletics:

WALESKA, Ga. – After setting a program-record with five touchdowns in a win over the top-ranked team in the country, Niagel Curtis has been named Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the Mid-South Conference office Monday afternoon.

The Adairsville, Ga., native rushed for 129 yards on 23 carries in No. 8 Reinhardt’s 42-24 win over No. 1 Lindsey Wilson in front of a crowd of 2,374 at Ken White Field Saturday. His five touchdowns, a program-best, tied him for the national-high in rushing touchdowns in a game this season. Curtis has scored a touchdown in every game this year, and his 17 touchdowns on the year helped him to take the lead in the NAIA in scoring for a non-kicker this year with 102. He is second in the country in overall scoring, and he ranks in the top-five in scoring per game this season.

Curtis ranks fifth in the Mid-South Conference in rushing yards per game with 87.1. He is tied for the conference lead in touchdowns this season.

With a record of 8-0, the Eagles are one of three unbeaten teams left in the NAIA this season. They will be next put to the test Nov. 7 with a crucial Mid-South Conference West Division showdown at Campbellsville.
