Starter Touki Toussaint took the loss Saturday night as the Rome Braves were shutout by the Columbia Fireflies 4-0.
Toussaint went five innings, giving up three runs on five hits – including a homer – striking out five and walking two batters. Columbia would get one more run off reliever Grayson Jones late.
Rome’s offense ran up against a buzzsaw in Columbia’s Andrew Church, who pitched a complete game one-hit shutout for the win. The Braves’ lone hit came from Justin Ellison.
