Oriel L Caicedo allowed just three hits over seven innings, leading the Rome Braves over the Augusta GreenJackets in a 5-0 win on Monday.
Caicedo (3-5) picked up the win after he struck out five and walked two.
In the top of the sixth, Rome broke a scoreless tie on a double by Austin Riley that scored Alejandro Salazar and Anfernee Seymour. The Braves then added a run in the eighth and two in the ninth. In the eighth, Ronald Acuna hit an RBI triple, while Lucas Herbert and Seymour hit RBI singles in the ninth.
Heath Slatton (2-4) went 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and five hits in the South Atlantic League game. He also struck out four and walked one.
The GreenJackets were held scoreless for the ninth time this season, while the Braves’ staff recorded their ninth shutout of the year.
