Small Business Profile: Renegade Athletics

For 10 years Calhoun, Georgia has been the home of Renegade Athletics—the only gym in Gordon, Whitfield, and Murray Counties whose coaches are USASF Certified and whose co-owner, Leslie Pledger-Griffin, is a national cheer competition judge and an individual who has been featured three separate times in Cheer Professional Magazine.  Her husband Cris has over 28 years of experience in both gymnastics and cheerleading.

This duo has helped prepare several high schools in North Georgia to win numerous regional championships and a total of 9 state championships.  56 young ladies have completed training at Renegade Athletics to continue their cheer careers at colleges and universities in many states.  This year Renegade cheerleaders won 2nd place at the U.S. Finals continuing a winning tradition as they already over the years have earned 110 first place competition wins.

There is much more to Renegade Athletics then cheer.  Hosting the largest facility north of Marietta this gym offers 5 exemplary programs:  Gymnastics, Trampoline & Tumbling, Dive Training, and JiuJitsu in addition to All-Star Cheerleading, (both half and full year programs).  USAG certified coach Rob Oster heads up the competition gymnastics team which includes floor, uneven bars, vault, and balance beam.  Coach Oster possesses 32 years of experience and is respected as a tumble and trampoline judge and male gymnastics judge.  Equally impressive is the JiuJitsu program headed by IBJJF certified Japanese Juitsu Purple

Belt and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt Josh Haberman.  This past season, the 10th Planet JiuJitsu Friendly Program soon to be an affiliate school won 5 Gold, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze Medals along with 2 Samurai Swords.  Furthermore, numerous clinics are offered at Renegades year around, summer camps are available, and the opportunity exist for the facilities to be rented for unforgettable birthday celebrations.
