
The Evans County Board of Education members briefly heard details of the budget for FY 2019 at the Workshop Monday afternoon. If projections hold steady, revenues will exceed expenditures by $1,013.16.
The budget predicts a General Fund Operations set point at $2,302,33.65 with an additional $13,760,682.09 for salaries and benefits across the district.

The FY 2019 General Fund Preliminary Budget indicates an increase of revenues in the amount of $1,069,449 and an increase in expenditures by $771,684.61. A few other highlights:
- The budget anticipates $3,535,000 in local taxes and $12,146,829 from QBE funding from the state.
- The budget includes a 1.5% supplement.

The positions budgetd by salary and benefits inlcude the following highlights:
- $9,630,853.56 on salaries across all schools and the central board office.
- $2,119,312.20 in health insurance benefits for all covered employees
- $1,828,955.53 for the Teachers Retirement System
- A total salary and benefits budget of $13,760,782
Additionally,
- The Central Office has $801,775 in salaries.
- $4,354,575.41 is allocated for salaries at Claxton Elementary School with $999,260 in health insurance, plus Teachers Retirement and Medicare, for a total of $6,296,271.65
- $1,761,187.27 is allocated for salaries at Claxton Middle School with $376,148 in health insurance, plus Teachers Retirement and Medicare, for a total of $2,512,298.51.
- $1,948,718.49 is allocated for salaries at Claxton High School with $475,127.20, plus Teachers Retirement and Medicare, for a total of $2,760,281.04.
- The Second Chance Academy has $224,843.82 set aside in salaries and $31,185 in health insurance benefits plus Teachers Retirement and Medicare, for a total of $303,731.20.
