Reeves Construction Company opened new passing and turn lane improvements on US 80 between Amanda Road and Old Leefield Road.
This $6.5 million project provides operational enhancements along a two-lane section of US 80/State Route 26 to reduce the frequency and severity of crashes, while providing a higher peak hour traffic service level between Statesboro and Brooklet.
Close out work in the project area may still require minor traffic interruptions in the coming weeks.
The project includes construction of passing and turning lanes within the project limits.
Drivers will see:
- A passing lane in the eastern direction beginning approximately 1,000 feet east of Burkhalter Road and ending at Grimshaw Road;
- A passing lane in the western direction beginning at Old Leefield Road and ending approximately 1,000 feet west of County Road (CR) 350/Bud Lee Lane;
- Auxiliary (turning) lanes, both right and left, added along the corridor as warranted by traffic data.
