Calhoun’s Smith, Johns Georgia Dugout Club’s Coach and Player of the Year

The Calhoun Lady Jackets Softball team picked up two individual awards this past week, as the Georgia Dugout Club issued awards. Calhoun’s junior third baseman Jana Johns picked up Player of the Year honors, while the now retired Diane Smith was named Coach of the Year for Georgia.

The Calhoun Lady Jackets Softball team picked up two individual awards this past week, as the Georgia Dugout Club issued awards.

Calhoun’s junior third baseman Jana Johns picked up Player of the Year honors, while the now retired Diane Smith was named Coach of the Year for Georgia.

Johns part of the 2017 South Carolina Softball class of committed recruiting class, and has been a big part of the recent successful years the Lady Jackets have had.

Smith, a recent inductee to the Calhoun/Gordon County Sports Hall of Fame, posted over 600 wins as the head softball coach at Calhoun.  She is also a member of the Georgia ASA Softball Hall of Fame and the Georgia USSSA Softball Hall of Fame.
