James homers in fifth, Rome shuts out Columbia 2-0

In only his second at-bat with the Rome Braves, Jared James hit a two-run homer, and it would be all the pitching staff would need for a 2-0 win over Columbia Saturday. Along with James, Carlos Castro scored on the homer. Mike Soroka put in five shutout innings of work, earning his fifth win of the year. Soroka gave up only four hits, and walked two, while striking out five batters.

The bullpen recorded another four shutout innings for Rome, earning Chase Johnson-Mullins his second hold in two innings of work, and Corbin Clouse his first save.

Other than the two-run homer from James, Ray-Patrick Didder, Jonathan Morales, and Carlos Castro each had a hit in the game.
