The Southeast Produce Council is donating free produce to the community to help alleviate the backlog of food service produce.

According to a Facebook post by the entity, the Reidsville United Methodist Church has agreed to help with the distribution and provide a pickup location at their church parking lot.

This will take place on Friday, April 3rd beginning at 10am until supplies are distributed. Recipients are instructed to enter the church parking lot at the East Brazell Street entrance.

In order to maintain social distancing recipients MUST remain in their vehicles as they pull through and produce is loaded into their trunk/rear hatch.

This food distribution is allowed under the current ‘shelter in place’ mandate.

Produce (seedless watermelons, yellow squash, zucchini squash, eggplant, sweet onions, sweet potatoes) will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

“We are truly grateful to Southern Valley, Sol Group, SMP Southeast Marketing, Inc., Shuman Farms (RealSweet Onions), Lancaster Foods, and Nickey Gregory Company for their generous product donations and to Society of St. Andrew and Reidsville United Methodist Church for their assistance with distribution,” Southeast Produce Council said on their Facebook page.
