Weigel’s arm, Castro’s bat push Braves past Drive, 5-3

Starter Patrick Weigel picked up his seventh win Friday night on the road, helping Rome past Greenville 5-3. Weigel went five-and-a-third innings, giving up one run one three hits, and striking out seven batters and walking only four in the game. From the bullpen, Corbin Clouse earned his first hold of the season, though he gave up a run in the process. Dalton Geekie gave up the other run to the Drive, while Devan Watts picked up his third save on the year.

Starter Patrick Weigel picked up his seventh win Friday night on the road, helping Rome past Greenville 5-3.

Weigel went five-and-a-third innings, giving up one run one three hits, and striking out seven batters and walking only four in the game. From the bullpen, Corbin Clouse earned his first hold of the season, though he gave up a run in the process.  Dalton Geekie gave up the other run to the Drive, while Devan Watts picked up his third save on the year.

For the offense, Carlos Castro was on fire with another 2-for-4 game, giving his team three RBIs, and scoring twice.  Castro also picked up his 12th homer on the year.

Darien McLemore, Justin Ellison, and Jonathan Morales also had two hits apiece in the game, and all but two batters (Riley, Didder) had at least one hit as the Braves picked up eleven total in the game.
