Mike Soroka improved to 8-9 on the year Wednesday night, despite giving up four earned runs in Rome’s 7-4 win over Kannapolis.
Oriel Caicedo picked up his first hold on the year, throwing a scoreless inning of relief, while Chase Johnson-Mullins grabbed his second save with Rome, throwing two full innings.
The offense came to the rescue of their starting pitcher, picking up seven runs on 11 hits, capped by a two RBI performance from Ray Patrick-Didder, who went 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs, and a walk.
Kevin Josephina went 3-for-5 on the night, with two runs and an RBI. Anfernee Seymour also had an RBI and a run on a 2-for-4 night. Austin Riley and Carlos Castro also had an RBI apiece in the game.
