Rome beats Columbia 5-1 to open series

The Rome Braves apparently didn’t let any fatigue from Sunday’s 19 inning marathon hinder their play on Monday, notching a series opening 5-1 win over Columbia. Top prospect Touki Toussaint got the start Monday, giving up only one run on two hits in five innings pitched. A slow start offensively, however, gave Matt Custred his first win on the year after a four-run eighth finally broke the 1-1 tie in the game.
