NWGA native Charlie Culberson makes Dodgers opening day roster

The Los Angeles Dodgers 2016 regular season opening day roster will include a familiar name to many baseball fans around the Northwest Georgia area. Rome native, and former Calhoun High School standout Charlie Culberson has made the 25-man roster for the L.A. Dodgers, putting him in elite company among professional baseball players coming out of spring training.

Rome native, and former Calhoun High School standout Charlie Culberson has made the 25-man roster for the L.A. Dodgers, putting him in elite company among professional baseball players coming out of spring training.

Culberson, now 26, is currently listed at the third base position for the Dodgers.

The former Yellow Jacket was picked in the first round of the 2007 MLB draft, and made his debut for the San Francisco Giants in May of 2012.  He went on to a two season breakthrough stint with the Colorado Rockies.

In his three seasons in the majors, Culberson has seen 331 at bats, including 73 hits, 5 home runs, 37 RBI’s, and a career batting average of .221.
