The Calhoun Yellow Jackets football team hit the field Thursday at Phil Reeve Stadium in their first pre-season scrimmage, taking on Northwest Whitfield.
Calhoun’s starters were solid in the first half, taking a 17-14 lead into the half, before rotating deep into the depth chart throughout the last two quarters of play.
A new quarterback got the start for CHS in Baylon Spector, replacing three-year starter Kaelan Riley who graduated in May. He threw for 95 yards, and rushed for another 43, going 6-for-11 through the air.
Olico Dennis had a solid performance on the ground, rushing for 59 yards on nine carries, while Zack Fullers rushed for 53 yards on eight tries.
The Jackets open regular season play Friday, August 19 at home as they host Douglass (Atlanta) at 7:30pm.
