Big 2nd inning puts Columbia past Rome 6-2 Tuesday night

A four-run fourth inning would be all the Fireflies would need to put away the Braves Tuesday night. Mike Soroka got the start, posting five innings of work. He gave up four runs on eight hits, walking one and striking out four. Reliever Chad Sobotka gave up two more runs in the bottom of the eighth, bringing the final score to 6-2 on the night.

Rome couldn’t get the bats working on the offensive side, managing just five hits, and scoring two runs in the sixth inning.
