State Representative Marie Metze to Retire from Georgia House

State Representative Marie Metze (D-Atlanta) today announced that she will retire from the Georgia House of Representatives.

She will continue to serve the remainder of her current term in office, which will expire when the Georgia General Assembly convenes for the 2023 legislative session.

Rep. Metze also issued the following statement:

“After thoughtful prayer and consideration, I have decided to retire from the Georgia House of Representatives to spend more meaningful time with my family. Serving as the state representative for House District 55 for the last seven years has been a distinct privilege and a journey I will never forget. While I may be retiring in January, I am committed to serving as a voice for my constituents during the remainder of my time in office.”

Representative Marie Metze represents the citizens of District 55, which includes portions of Fulton County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2015 and currently serves on the Economic Development & Tourism, Higher Education, Interstate Cooperation and Special Rules committees.
