Nearly 100 cars were broken into at a Georgia mall Friday night, officials say.
Media outlets report that Stonecrest Mall saw a string of car break-ins and now customers and employees are speaking out, saying the thieves know there are no security cameras in the area. One person who works in the mall told WSBtv that she thinks it will only get worse with the holidays approaching.
Many of the vehicles had broken windows and their vehicles were in disarray after theives managed to steal much of the contents.
WSBtv reported that “the victims were a mix of mall employees and customers” and the woman who spoke with WSB said police told her they saw three suspects who were probably part of a group robbing vehicles. Police chased them, but the suspects ran into the woods.
Employee says they want to feel safe, but they’re also worried about the customer base, which could be affected if people don’t feel like they can leave their cars in the parking lot.
