Child Shot in Stomach After 2 Played with Loaded Gun

The incident comes just a week after another incident in Georgia where a 4-year-old accidentally shot and killed his 6-year-old sister in Paulding county.

A little boy is recovering after being shot by another child with a handgun, police in Georgia report.

An 8-year-old boy shot his 7-year-old friend in the stomach with a .45 caliber handgun in an accidental shooting while the pair was alone in an apartment, Griffin police reported Monday. Authorities say the gun was left unattended and the children found it in the apartment. Griffin is a city about 40 miles south of Atlanta.

The 7-year-old was rushed to the hospital by helicopter and immediately underwent surgery. His condition is not known. It was not immediately known if the two children are related.
