Evans, Tattnall Commission Chairs Endorse Casey Cagle for Governor

Two local elected officials have jumped on the Casey Cagle bandwagon to support the the lieutenant governor in his bid for the Republican nomination as Georgia’s next Governor.

Evans County Commission Chair Jill Griffin and Tattnall County Commission Chairman Jackie Trim joined a handful of elected officials from Southeast Georgia in endorsing Cagle this week.

Griffin was quoted in Cagle’s press release: “As the chairwoman of Evans County, I have dedicated myself to bettering our community. Casey knows Southeast Georgia, and Casey has proven himself to be a leader that works to benefit everyday Georgians.”

Griffin has been a Commissioner since 2012 and Trim was elected in 2016.

The Tattnall and Evans Chairs join other elected officials from Emanuel, Bryan, Ware and Glynn counties, as well as several municipalities. You can read the full press release here.

Cagle has served as Lieutenant Governor since 2006. Before that, he served as a state Senator after being elected in 1994. Cagle has had his share of ups and downs politically, having supported the religious freedom legislation and the recent “Back the Blue” bills, but faced tremendous criticism for stalling for gun rights legislation as far back as 2009 as LG, and again in 2012 and 2013. He’s also spent years battling sex scandal allegations and concerns over payments made to a former staffer.
