After a grueling 1,498 days in Shorter history, the Hawks snapped a 48-game losing streak with a 37-7 victory over Allen University on Saturday afternoon. The victory marked the first win for Shorter since October 3, 2015 – a 42-23 triumph over Mississippi College.
Chattooga Alumni and Shorter Freshman, Devin Price scored his first NCAA touchdown in the 3rd quarter on 20 yard pass from Aeneas Dennis.
Price was a three sport athlete during his time at Chattooga High School, but has decided to focus solely on football in college.

Tupac Lanier exploded for three touchdowns in the first half to give Shorter a 20-7 lead going into halftime. Lanier had touchdown runs of seven and one yards in the half, as well as a 14 yard touchdown reception from Tyler Pullum.
Pullum and Aeneas Dennis both eclipsed 100 yards of passing on the afternoon. On his senior day, Pullum completed 11 of his 14 pass attempts for 105 yards and a touchdown. Dennis completed eight passed for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Lanier, Elijah Gilbert, Christian Da-Silva, Devin Price, Andrew Warren, and Kameron King all had at least a pair of receptions in the victory. Da-Silva led the team with 41 receiving yards on two receptions. Lanier had a team-best four receptions out of the backfield.
The Shorter defense recorded seven sacks and was constantly in the backfield and creating havoc. Kaleb Bailey and Terrance Snellings led the team with 1.5 sacks each, while Brent Silvar, Deandre Moss, Dejon Walden, Bruce Guyton Jr., Kevin Zachary, and Fabian Reid Jr. all pitched in with at least 0.5 of a sack.
Jeffery Brewer Jr. and Nehemiah Reddish both snagged a pass from the Allen quarterback to regain possession for the Hawks and allowed the offense to start drives in great field position. Jo’van Ousley forced a fumble that Xavier Robinson scooped up to regain momentum for the Hawks. Robinson once again led the team in tackles on the afternoon, bringing down a Yellow Jacket player eight times.
Gregory Fields Jr. added a 84 yard kick return to open the second half that set up a 20 passing touchdown from Dennis to Price. On the following drive, Dennis found a wide open Elijah Gilbert for a 12 yard touchdown to give Shorter a 34-7 lead. Nicholas Pope split the uprights with a 26-yard field goal to extend Shorter’s lead to 30, where it would remain until the game finished.
Before the game, Shorter honored the seniors of the football team, marching band, and cheer team. Football recognized seven seniors: Tyler Pullum, Corey Robinson, Elijah Gilbert, Le’Chauz Langford, Terrance Snellings, Rylee Cheek, and Jackson Starling.
Next Saturday, Shorter will head on the road to Melbourne, Florida where they will square off with conference opponent Florida Tech. The road contest will be the final game of the 2019 season for the Hawks.
