Chattooga soccer season kicked off Tuesday in a scrimmage against Ridgeland at home. The girls had a dominating performance in the first 15 minutes until they began to tire. At half time the score was tied at 0. In the second half Ridgeland scored on a PK, but Chattooga’s Kinslee Bailey answered with a goal assisted by Abby Groce. The match ended in a tie.
The boys game was a hard fought battle to the end. The match was tied at 0 with 15 minutes left on the clock. “I decided to make a gamble and go for the win. I pushed up team Captain Mario Mosqueda to CM to try and get a goal, and a couple of shots poured through in his absence,” Coach Windom said. The game ended 2-0 in favor of Ridgeland.
“We are very proud of the results. The girls team is not at full strength yet with several girls still playing basketball, and the boys made Ridgeland really work for the win.”
