Chattooga Middle School closes out the regular season with an Indian match up at Armuchee Middle School

The Armuchee Indians Middle School team is led by a 6th grade quarterback and a young team with a lot of heart. This was simply no match for the Indians from the northern side of the ridge who rode into town led by 8th graders at every key position and were battle hardened and ready for war. Quarterback #12 Jamarious Mosteller was consistent and nearly flawless, going 5 for 7 in the air for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns, while leading Chattooga to a 32-0 win. In addition, Mosteller took an interception in the 3rd quarter and went 66 yards for another would-be touchdown that was called back for an illegal block.

#4 Quintavious Knox demonstrated again that he was not just a force at tailback, where he picked up 49 yards on just 7 carries, including a touchdown, but Knox also was a defensive leader with several brutal solo tackles and an interception in the opening quarter that he took 32 yards for a touchdown. #20 Alex Meers and #22 Baylor Wilson also made contributions in the offensive backfield for Chattooga. Wilson took a 2nd quarter hand off 11 yards to pay dirt while Meers picked up 28 yards on just 4 carries and added another 30 yards receiving including a touchdown reception.

The Indian defense was a destructive force for Chattooga with Meers, Wilson, Knox and #25 Luis Medina and #18 Quinton Perry each recording multiple tackles and several tackles-for-loss. Perry and Wilson each had multiple sacks on the day with Perry also catching a 41 yard Mosteller pass for a touchdown. The Indians of the Chattooga variety were focused on next week’s Championship Game against Cedartown but didn’t overlook the upstart team from Armuchee that demonstrated a lot of heart and fought until the very end.

Tuesday, October 27 at 4:45 pm, the Indians will take on the Cedartown Bulldogs in a rematch of their only loss on the year.
