This year’s Pride of Trion Marching Band halftime show features high-energy tunes with lots of solos and lots of fun!
The Pride of Trion’s drum major is junior Madilyn Cordle, returning for her second year as the field commander. The band’s captain is senior Eduard Perez, and percussion captains are seniors, Jacob Spraggins and Krista Ozment.
Trion’s band decided before the season that since there likely will not be any competitions this year, they would be able to present a show that they otherwise might not typically perform.
Along this line, the opener is a catchy Latin original called Havana Express, featuring trumpet solos by seniors Gabe Byars and Belle Williams, and a visual solo by junior Lexie Shipp-Allen. Followed by the middle number, the popular 70s R&B favorite by Earth, Wind and Fire, After the Love Has Gone, featuring solos by junior Martin Welles on alto sax and Belle Williams again on trumpet. The closer is just a blast! Big Noise from Winnetka is a classic swing tune that opens with senior drum set soloist Jacob Spraggins. Senior tuba soloist Rhys Wallin lays down the bass line for trumpet soloists Gavin Gillespie, junior, and Gabe Byars. A closer titled “Big Noise” wouldn’t be complete without featuring our awesome drum line!
This will be Bob Steelnack’s 25th year teaching bands, and third year at Trion High School.
