Obituary: Mrs. Joyce Hamby Hogg

She was a member of the Menlo United Methodist Church and was retired from Trion City Schools where she had taught for 41 years.

Mrs. Joyce Hamby Hogg, age 90, of Summerville, GA, died Friday, July 26, 2019, at the Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Hogg was born May 27, 1929, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Hugh Lee and Margaret Wofford Hamby. She was a member of the Menlo United Methodist Church and was retired from Trion City Schools where she had taught for 41 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hogg was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Hogg; sisters, Hughbell Tucker, Margaret Thomas, Pegg Hogg, and Nelle Adamson.

Mrs. Hogg is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kelly Hogg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hill and Lucille Hamby, Jerry and Kaye Hamby; a sister, Jane Stokes; sister-in-law, Brenda Lanier; brother-in-law, Morris Hogg; special nieces, Beth Wilson and Susan Hegwood; grandchildren, Royce Hogg and Rory Hogg; and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hogg will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 29, 2019, from the Macedonia Chapel at Camp Hamby with Rev. David Autry and Rev. Jody Brock officiating. Interment will follow in Garrett Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Darren Mitchell, Royce Hogg, Rory Hogg, Lee Hamby, Randy Elrod, and Bobby Hannah. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill and Jeanette Kinzy, Richard and Vanessa Lindsay, and Jewel Hall.

Mrs. Hogg will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, July 28, 2019. She will also lie in state at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Monday.
