Former Chattooga County Schools Superintendent and retired US Marine Colonel Jimmy Lenderman announced his endorsement of Blake Elsberry for Sole Commissioner in the following statement:
To the Voters of Chattooga County:
I believe that it is time for a change at the office of the Chattooga County Commissioner. In looking back over the tenure of the current commissioner, I find it impossible to recall any major positive outcomes to any of his limited initiatives. In fact, it is my opinion that the county is worse off today than it was before the current commissioner was elected. The commissioner has continuously increased the county commissioner’s portion of the property tax mileage rate but the county has not moved forward to the level that justifies his large tax increases. As the commissioner raised our taxes, the school system decreased the school tax portion of the mileage rate every year for eight years. The county cannot continue on this commissioner’s spendthrift, leaderless path. It is time to make a change. I encourage all of you to vote on 11 August for Mr. Blake Elsberry. Blake Elsberry is a dedicated , hard working young man with a vision to lead our county to prosperity rather than higher taxes. Please vote for Blake Elsberry on 11 August 2020.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jimmy Lenderman
Elsberry will face incumbent Jason Winters (R) in the runoff election on August 11th. Early voting for the primary is underway.
