NWGA teams prepare for GHSA high school football playoffs

The Georgia High School Association's 2016 high school football playoff brackets have been finalized, and a slew of teams from around Northwest Georgia are set to kick off post-season runs Friday. Area teams set for playoff football are Darlington, Trion, Model, Pepperell, Chattooga, Rockmart, North Murray, Sonoraville, Calhoun, Bremen, NW Whitfield, Cartersville, Heritage, Ridgeland, Pickens County, Rome, Allatoona, and Dalton.

Annual J.D. Powell Memorial Golf Tournament raises over $14,000 for GNTC Students

More than $14,000 was raised to provide funding and financial aid to Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) students during the 18th annual J.D. Powell Memorial Golf Tournament held at Barnsley Resort in Adairsville on Tuesday, Oct. 25. The tournament was sponsored by the Foundation at GNTC. James Derward Powell served as the president of GNTC from 1987-1994.
