Board of Education elects officers; sets 2020 meeting dates

The Bulloch County Board of Education met for its annual organizational meeting on Thursday, January 9. The first items on the agenda were to elect officers and set the 2020 meeting dates.

Chairman Mike Sparks was nominated by Dr. Stuart Tedders to continue his service. No additional nominations were made, and Chairman Sparks was re-elected by a majority of the Board. Vice-Chairman Heather Mims was also nominated by Dr. Tedders. No additional nominations were made, and Vice-Chairman Mims was re-elected by a majority of the Board. Before proceeding with other agenda items, the Board approved a slate of 2020 meeting dates.

All Board of Education meetings will start at 6:30 p.m., and will be held at the school district’s Central Office, located at 150 Williams Road, in Statesboro, unless otherwise announced. The Board may change only one Regular Session meeting with notice. Work Session meetings are tentatively scheduled and will be cancelled if not needed. Any Called or Special Session meetings will be advertised to the public in advance. Meeting dates, times, and places are subject to change with advanced notice.Meetings are scheduled on the second and fourth Thursday of each month unless noted.
