Execution Date Set for Cobb County Murderer

The Cobb County Superior Court has ordered the execution of convicted murderer Stacey Humphreys. The court ordered the Georgia Department of Corrections to carry out the execution on a date between September 16, 2026 and September 23, 2026. Commissioner Tyrone Oliver has set the date for Wednesday, September 16, at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson at 7 p.m.

Stacey Humphreys was convicted in Cobb County for the 2003 murders of Cyndi Williams and Lori Brown. If executed, Humphreys will be the 55th inmate put to death by lethal injection.

Humphreys was convicted of killing Williams and Brown at the real estate office where they worked in Cobb County.

Prosecutors said Humphreys entered the office, robbed the women and forced them to partially undress before shooting both of them in the head. He was arrested after investigators linked him to the killings through evidence from the crime scene.

A jury convicted Humphreys of murder and other charges and sentenced him to death.
