The CHS Competition cheerleading team will compete Friday morning at the GHSA State Championship at the held Macon Centreplex in Macon, GA. The session begins at 10:00 a.m., and they are the 9th team to perform, so they should be on the floor around 11 a.m. The competition will be live-streamed on NFHS Network.
Head Coach Kelsey Ray said, “I couldn’t be more proud and more excited for these girls!! Last Saturday at Ola High School, they really came out and made themselves known. They had a few minor timing issues, but overall, they put on a dang good performance. We had a few injuries throughout the week, so we were a little anxious about those before taking the floor, but everyone gave it their all and pushed through for each other. We scored an 82, which is the highest they’ve scored all season by a lot, and I’ll even go as far as to say that’s the highest they’ve scored in years. I felt like the judges scored them fairly and saw their routine for all that it truly is. The judges are going to be more picky this coming weekend, so we’re really focusing on the little things this week and get lots of run throughs in, cleaning up, and getting focused. I’m 100% confident these girls are going to go down there and do their absolute best. State is a big deal, and the atmosphere is a lot different than what they see during regular season competitions, but they deserve to be there and to be recognized for the work they’ve put in since June. I’m proud to be their coach.”
