Andy Ramirez broke Trion High School record last Friday facing Gordon Central

Andy Ramirez (junior) set the new Trion High School record for longest field goal. Ramirez kicked the 47 yard field goal last Friday against Gordon Central. The previous record for longest field goal was 44 yards, kicked by Fitz Christopher against Bremen in 1981.

“Feels good to be a record holder for my school. None of this would be possible without the right motivation and effort I put in,”Ramierz said. “Thanks to the coaching staff and my teammates for pushing me to get better. Not only the coaches, but also having a good relationship with Jesus Christ has helped me be motivated to push my limits everyday.”

“I’m so proud of Andy. He has worked really hard and deserves all of the accolades that he has received,” Head Coach Sean Patrick said. “Anytime you can do something that has never been accomplished before it’s pretty cool. Kicking a 47 yard field goal is an impressive feat, especially at the high school level. Heck, that’s a long field goal at any level.”
