State Rep. Matt Dubnik Appointed to House Working Group on Early Childhood Education

State Representative Matt Dubnik (R-Gainesville), chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, was recently named by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the House Working Group on Early Childhood Education.

“I am extremely passionate about education public policy and am grateful to Speaker Burns for appointing me to this working group to look at pre-K education in our state,” said Rep. Dubnik. “Pre-K education is crucial for children’s development and lays the foundation to their future academic and social success. Not only does Pre-K prepare children from their elementary school years, but it also gives them a head start on cognitive development, socialization and emotional development. I’m honored to join this group of legislative experts as we dive into this important issue for the remainder of the year.”

The House Working Group on Early Childhood Education will focus on policies to expand access and improve the effectiveness of pre-Kindergarten education in Georgia. This working group will be chaired by Speaker Pro Tempore Jan Jones (R-Milton) and will also include the following members: State Rep. Chris Erwin (R-Homer), chairman of the House Education Committee; State Rep. Carl Gillard (D-Savannah), chairman of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus; and State Rep. Todd Jones (R-South Forsyth), chairman of the House Technology Infrastructure & Innovation Committee.

Representative Matt Dubnik represents the citizens of District 29, which includes portions of Hall County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education. He also serves on the Education, Game, Fish & Parks, Higher Education, Juvenile Justice, Regulated Industries, Small Business Development, Technology and Infrastructure Innovation and Urban Affairs committees.
