Brunswick Sees Drop in November Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Brunswick recorded an unemployment rate of 2.8 percent in November, down three-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 2.8 percent.

“We are seeing job numbers continue to rise across the state as Georgians secure employment,” said Commissioner Butler. “Unemployment rates also dropped in regions throughout Georgia in November as we entered the holiday employment period.”

The labor force decreased in Brunswick by 248 and ended the month with 52,714. That number increased by 211 when compared to November of 2021.

Brunswick finished the month with 51,243 employed residents. That number decreased by 72 over the month and went up 227 when compared to the same time a year ago.

Brunswick ended November with 45,900 jobs. That number went up 400 from October to November and increased by 1,700 when compared to this time last year.

The number of unemployment claims decreased by 17 percent in Brunswick in November. When compared to last November, claims were up by about 32 percent.

Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed about 509 active job postings in Brunswick for November.
