North Carolina Man Wanted for Murder Arrested in Statesboro

A 32-year-old man wanted for an August 19 murder in Orange County, North Carolina was arrested in Statesboro today.

From Orange County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina 08/22/2022:

Authorities arrested Uriel Garcia Garcia, 32, of Durham, in Statesboro, Georgia this afternoon in connection with the August 19th murder of Ulises Guadalupe Vasquez.

Agents from the Southeastern United States Marshals Task Force of Georgia, in cooperation with the United States Marshals Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force, took Garcia into custody today in Statesboro, GA. Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said, “We appreciate the assistance of both US Marshals task forces, the help of the Statesboro Police Department Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office.”

Vasquez died of multiple gunshot wounds Friday morning after being shot in a parking lot of an apartment complex off Thomas Burke Drive just outside the Hillsborough city limits. During the investigation, Garcia emerged as a suspect. Investigators obtained a warrant charging him with first degree murder; Garcia now awaits extradition from Georgia.

    Why do the murderers always end up in Statesboro?This is not the place for you to come and hide.Our sheriff here in Bulloch County does not play those games he will find you and you will pay.
