Dennis Resigns From Summerville City Council

“But due to circumstances that were beyond my control, I am now forced to resign my seat from the council effective 06/14/2021.”

Summerville City Councilwoman Kristy Dennis has announced her resignation from the office of council member Seat 3.

Dennis said in a letter addressed to the residents of Summerville, “When I was elected to serve as City Councilwoman, I would not have thought that my first year would be so eventful. From the city water crisis to a global pandemic, it was incredibly challenging. The Council worked together with the Mayor, City Manager, and all Department Heads to work through such trying times. I found this position to be hard but also extremely rewarding. When I sat at my council seat, I tried to think of every citizen in the City of Summerville and how my decision would affect them not just today but for years to come. I am so honored that the residents of this city found me worthy to be their voice and I thank each of you for this incredible opportunity.

Also, never would I have thought that just 2 1/2 years into my term, I would be writing a letter of resignation. But due to circumstances that were beyond my control, I am now forced to resign my seat from the council effective 06/14/2021. It has weighed heavily on my heart knowing this day was coming. Summerville will always hold a special place in my heart. It has truly been an unforgettable experience to be one member on a five-member board of such integrity and passion for this city.

It has been an honor to serve the people of Summerville.”

The City of Summerville said at this time her replacement has not been discussed.
