Sylvania Couple Arrested for Assisting Escaped Inmate

The Screven County Sheriff’s Office says the couple did not plan or assist Jones in his escape, but helped him in the days following.

A Sylvania couple was arrested today for assisting escaped inmate Frederick Lamont Jones. Tammy Copeland Edwards, 39 years old, and Daniel Lamar Edwards, 35 years old, of Waters Grove Road in Sylvania were both charged with Hindering Apprehension of a criminal. The charge is a felony in Georgia and carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.

The Screven County Sheriff’s Office says the couple did not plan or assist Jones in his escape, but helped him in the days following. Tammy Edwards is Jones’ sister. Both remain in the Screven County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
