Riley’s 9th inning homer helps Rome beat Columbia 5-3

A late homer from Austin Riley would be the key to a Braves win over the Fireflies Sunday in Columbia, helping to lift Rome to a 5-3 final. Riley went four-for-two with two runs and an RBI on his game winning home run. Ricardo Sanchez started, going five innings for the Braves. He gave up three runs on seven hits – two were home runs – striking out six and walking only one batter. Matt Custred threw two hitless innings of relief, followed by Corbin Clouse, who picked up his second win of the year in just one hitless inning of his own, while Devan Watts was credited with the save.
