After a rainout on Thursday, Rome and Lexington played a doubleheader of two seven inning games on Friday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
Braves starter Patrick Weigel shined in game one, pitching a rare seven-inning complete game shutout, posting no runs on four hits, a walk and two strikeouts. Weigel got plenty of runs support as his offense scored seven in the first of two games, including Lucas Herbert‘s second homer of the season. Rome won 7-0.
Game two was less of a cakewalk for the Braves, but another strong start got Rome off on the right foot. Max Fried picked up a win in five innings of work in game two. Fried gave up no runs on three hits, and posted eight strikeouts. Even with Matos and Graham giving up a run each in relief, the offense again picked up the slack, putting the Legends away 6-2.
