Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan has offered his support of State Senator Renee Unterman in her bid for Georgia’s 7th Congressional seat.
The endorsement took politicos by surprise as Unterman and Duncan were once on the opposite ends of the Republican political spectrum when Duncan was serving in the state house. Duncan formerly advocated for limited government, which often put he and Unterman at odds on legislation. Unterman also lost her Health & Human Services Committee Chairmanship when Duncan took the helm in the Georgia Senate.
In a press release, Unterman said:
“I am honored to have the support of so many dedicated public servants from Forsyth and Gwinnett counties. From the beginning, my campaign has focused on the kitchen table issues that matter most to our community and its citizens, and I am humbled by the confidence these local officials have placed in me to fight for our shared values in Washington. From Loganville to Cumming, I am working every day to earn the support of every voter in the 7th Congressional District between now and the Republican primary on May 19.”
