Small GA Town Stands Strong for Christian Flag

The small Bleckley County city of Cochran in Middle Georgia is standing up against threats of a legal challenge surrounding the flying of a Christian flag over their city hall.

The town leaders were advised by lawyers that the flag could open the town to harsh legal challenges, however the city council heard the public outcry -after City Manager Richard Newbern removed the flag- and voted to fly the Christian flag over the building.

“The people of Cochran came to a city council meeting and said, ‘Let’s put the flag back up,’” explained Councilman Gary Ates, who sponsored the motion.

In the end, the initiative passed with a 5 to 1 vote and the flag is slated to return to its previous perch.
