Deal announces solicitor general appointment for Long County

New appointment for solicitor general in Long County, GA

Gov. Nathan Deal announced the appointment of Billy J. Nelson, Jr. as solicitor general of the State Court of Long County.

The appointment will take effect upon swearing in of Nelson. The vacancy for this appointment in Long County was created by the appointment of Mark Hendrix as the solicitor general of the State Court of Liberty County.

Billy J. Nelson, Jr.
Nelson currently serves as assistant district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney in the Atlantic Judicial Circuit. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Nelson and his wife, Kathryn, have two children and reside in Hinesville.
