GDOT plans to close the Pierce County bridge for replacement on April 2.
Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) continues to reduce the number of deficient county bridges with the upcoming replacement of Sixty Foot Creek Bridge north of Patterson on Tyre Bridge Road, which is scheduled to close Tuesday, April 2.
Georgia DOT’s contractor Underground Excavating of Patterson is permitted to close Tyre Bridge Road at the bridge location for 180 days. The contractor will prepare and maintain the detour around the closure, which utilizes US 84/State Route (SR) 38, Birmingham Avenue and Sinclair Road in Pierce County. Motorists can access residences in the area up to the work zone.
This $2.2 million project will replace the current weight restricted bridge, which was built in 1950. If the weather cooperates, the new bridge is expected to be open to traffic in the fourth quarter of this year.
