Global Big Day Bird Walk Saturday, May 5th, 2018
8:30 – 11:30am Limit: 20 people
Come enjoy a morning of birding with CEWC Naturalists on Global Big Day, Saturday, May 5th! Global Big Day is an international event that encourages citizen scientists to get outside, look for birds, and report their sightings on the eBird website. All skill levels are invited to attend. Some binoculars will be available to borrow. Please dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes. We will meet outside the Visitor Center at 8:30 am.
Participants should be at least 10 years of age and patient enough to stand quietly to ID birds.
An Afternoon Paddle
Saturday, May 5th, 2018
1:00 – 3:00pm Limit: 10 people
Get out on the water on a beautiful day in May with CEWC Naturalists on Saturday, May 5th! Paddle around Lake Margery and learn more about the wildlife and plants that call it home. Participants will be taught basic canoeing and safety techniques. Canoes, paddles, and life jackets will be provided. We will meet at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center Discovery Area (follow signs once on Marben Farm Road) at 1:00 pm.
Participants should be at least 10 years of age and must be accompanied by an adult if under 16 years of age.
Dusk on the Deck Tuesday, May 15th, 2018
7:30 – 9:30pm Limit: 20 people
Come hang out with some CEWC Naturalists as we look for and learn about animals that emerge at dusk and walk the night. We’ll discuss nocturnal adaptations and how nighttime affects our senses. Meet us at the Visitor Center back deck. Follow signs from the parking lot. Participants are welcome to bring flashlights but will be asked to keep them off during the program
