With the team set to report in less than a month for the upcoming season, the Lady Hawks learned Tuesday that they were among six Gulf South Conference teams to earn American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic honors for the 2015-16 academic year.
In its 24th year, the award was established to honor collegiate and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining a 3.3 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale. For 2015-16, 764 teams were recognized from all high school and collegiate divisions with 119 receiving the honor from NCAA Division II.
Joining the Lady Hawks from the Gulf South Conference were Lee, North Alabama, Union, Valdosta State and West Florida.
